For The Long Goodbye That Isn’t Really Goodbye, Rokeeda shares three photographs from the season leading up to Bailey leaving for college: prom, graduation, and orientation.
Together, they trace the movement from celebration toward departure. What begins with familiar milestones eventually arrives at First Flight—the orientation where Rokeeda says the reality of Bailey leaving began to fully settle in.
Presented together, these images preserve more than the events themselves. They hold a mother and daughter at the edge of change: one preparing to step into a life of her own, and the other beginning to imagine who she will become when motherhood no longer looks the way it has for eighteen years.

A milestone eighteen years in the making. Bailey stands at the end of one chapter and the beginning of another, with Rokeeda beside the daughter she has spent nearly her entire adult life raising.

Holding their First Flight materials and orientation badges, mother and daughter document the day Rokeeda says Bailey’s departure began to feel real. What had been a future plan was becoming a new life—one Bailey would soon begin navigating on her own.
