Two photographs, taken in different seasons of Brittany’s life. While the physical difference is visible, Brittany preserves them for what cannot be seen as easily: the shift from living without boundaries to prioritizing herself and protecting her peace.

Behind the Story

Brittany chose these photographs because they hold a change that cannot be measured by appearance alone. For her, the distance between the two images is marked by boundaries—learning to prioritize herself, protect her peace, and recognize that choosing herself did not require an explanation.

The photographs preserve what Peace on the Other Side explores in words: sometimes becoming visible to yourself happens before anyone else understands what has changed.

What we save often reveals what changed us. The Archive preserves this photograph not because transformation can always be seen, but because sometimes an image holds evidence of a change only the person who lived it can fully name.
